Ahh my big problem is leaving my pc on 24/7. It's not about the bill, thats not an issue, but my pc's life is at stake. After screwball told me about how overclocking is the fastest way to kill ur pc, i always make sure i turn it off now. Ive been testing out things SOO much to oc i'm happy at where i am and it took me a lot of time to get where i'm at. Orthos, TAT, CPU-Z, Super-Pi - These are the apps I have used almost everyday for about a month now. Once i get a new pc ill join yall. Dont wry i'm comin

you only shorten your PC's life if the temps are too high. high temperatures are the biggest enemy of electronic components, so as long as you have good temps - no problem whatsoever. also: leaving your rig on for folding 24/7 isn't a requirement at all. if it folds only when you are gaming or doing any other tasks on it - that's fine. some of us fold 24/7 because folding is addictive (still better than crack ). so if your rig folds only when you have it on anyways - that's OK. every little bit helps and your E6600 would still contibute considerable amount to the cause when just folding part-time...

For someone who isn't folding for this team, you sure do post in this area a whole lot. It's about HardwareLogics' progress, not propping your team number every chance you get right?

Thanks to all who folded under my name during my down time. I now have two cores folding for HL. My main rig has one and my laptop is also folding for HL. I have one core dedicated to another team that helped me out during my down time.

@PB,

You are doing your overclocked rig more harm than good by turning it on and off all the time. As I've told you before, you should lower your voltage and be happy at 3.2 to 3.3 Ghz. These E6600's can easily run at those speeds with acceptable, and in spec, voltage.

oh, I didn't know he overvolted his CPU too much. in that case tom is totally right: makes no difference if you fold or not - actually having it on folding all the time is less harmfull than turning it on and off... actually - if you have the right temps and voltages, it's not harmfull at all.

He's running it at 1.5v. The max for the E6600 is 1.3525v. He has mentioned it in other threads is the only reason why I know about it.
