| If I do choose to upgrade to Vista, it won't happen until Monday, Nov. 17th. I may install Ubuntu as a temporary fix. I'm getting tired of using this laptop's small keyboard. Looks like Stanford's FAH site is down, I can't access it to download the SMP client. ![]() By putting my two regular clients on low instead of idle, I can finish 2 15 pointers for each core in one day. Now that's what I call "folding"!![]() Main PC: Intel Pentium D 930, Asus P5LP-LE, 2GB DDR2-4300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, Lightscribe CD/DVD Drive, DVD-ROM, 300W PSU, GeForce 7300LE, Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II, HP Media Drive Port, 300 GB Hard Drive Laptop: 900 MHz Intel Moblie CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, Intel 910 Motherboard, Linux OS (customized by Asus), 8.8 x 6.5 x 0.9 inches, 7.0 Inch screen, integrated camera, 2.0(without power cord)/2.4 lbs.(with power cord) _________________________________________ Last edited by sbohdan; November 11th, 2008 at 02:31. | Hey, I'm back and folding quite nicely I might add. ![]() Main PC: Intel Pentium D 930, Asus P5LP-LE, 2GB DDR2-4300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, Lightscribe CD/DVD Drive, DVD-ROM, 300W PSU, GeForce 7300LE, Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II, HP Media Drive Port, 300 GB Hard Drive Laptop: 900 MHz Intel Moblie CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, Intel 910 Motherboard, Linux OS (customized by Asus), 8.8 x 6.5 x 0.9 inches, 7.0 Inch screen, integrated camera, 2.0(without power cord)/2.4 lbs.(with power cord) _________________________________________ |

| Thanks. Got the new stuff in and (pretty much) working. Still have some a few things to do and then it's on to overclocking to see what I can get. I'm holding off on the SMP client for now, as in my experience its very susceptible to any kind of problem (i.e. tinker with anything and it shuts down, with pretty much all work up til then completely lost). Once i get a stable OC then I'll add the SMP back on. ![]() |

| BTW, did you know you could fold on both GPU's? with a similar setup polobunny makes about 5500-6000 PPD on each core... we see ya ]Quote:

| T-Rex | Make sure you disable SLi by enabling multi monitor in the nVidia control panel. Then in the windows display properties enable the second monitor. Put the lowest resolution you can (640x480) and 32bits color if you don't have a second monitor connected to it and move the virtual monitor a place your mouse is not likely to get trapped (I like the bottom right corner) Then you need to copy the Application Data folder and program files folder (I find it easier) so your have different work files. You make two shortcuts, one for GPU1 and another for GPU2. Example of a shortcut: Target: "C:\Program Files\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\Folding@home.exe" Start in: ""C:\Documents and Settings\polobunny\Application Data\Folding@home-gpu" Change Folding@home-gpu to Folding@home-gpu2 for gpu2... Then you need to add an environment variable to your OS so it only uses 1 core and therefore does not induce video lag, which should be enough for 2 GPUs NV_FAH_CPU_AFFINITY, I set it to 2, which makes it use the second CPU core. Once that is done, everytime you start your computer put the processor affinity to explorer.exe to core 1 (not core 0) and this way it shouldn't lag. Edit: Not related, but I hate those 511 points GPU WUS with a passion. They are so not worth it compared to the 480pts ones. Last edited by polobunny; November 12th, 2008 at 12:51. |
