I used alcohol for years with no ill effects. As with any cleaning agent, proper usage and common sense can go a long way. That being said, I switched over to the Arctic Clean two-step process about 8 months ago.

I have a bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol that I've been using for about a year, and for the most part, gets the job done pretty well. It can usually get rid of just about all of any TIM residue I want to remove. It's been known to not remove 100% of it, but not so much is left behind that I think it's an issue. It did an alright job of removing some thermal tape residue from my chipset cooler, but I got 98-99% of it off.

I would agree that his 9700 facing the rear of the case is the best option, for better cooling, and I still think he'll want to seriously consider another video cooling option if he's going to oc his card, especially with the idle temps he listed in the 50s.

If it's not fixed, then don't broke it!

Lol you guys are makin me feel dumb about all this computer stuff!! But thx for the support. I could get MSN cuz i really need to talk to someone about this because this pc w/ vista is my second build but with all new high end and advanced hardware I've never used before!! I used amd athlons before i switched to intel (e6600) and now i couldnt be happier because ive never seen or even knew about the term overclocking. I was reading up on it while i was deciding to buy new parts and i always saw people writing down their specs at the bottom of their signatures and wondered what all that meant. I understand now and it throws a lot of interest in me and I've almost taken this as my hobby in a way. I'm trying to learn the tricks and all so I could be more computer oriented. I love gaming and overclocking helped me be more satisfied with a system i can rely on for no lag or frustration. Pbirmingham1988 is my MSN screen name so hit me up!! I would love to share some of my own bios set ups with you and show my set up in my case. If you guys could help me at all in just litle tweaks here and there it is GREATLY appreciated. I'll get on my pc in 5 mins cuz my brother is playing world of warcraft. Personally, I hate that game. Thx a lot my DUDES!

as a PC Tech of about 15 years now, overclocking is one of the fastest and easiest way to kill a system, if not immediately then down the road. A stock clocked system can been seen running 5-10+ years down the road, yet the expected lifespan of any overclocked part is around 1-2 years, even if 100% stable the entire time. Some parts are able to OC for long periods of time provided proper cooling the entire time.
I myself am giving my E6600 a small bump but nowhere near where you or others have theirs. I don't feel like flushing away my hard earned money
