| DITCH THAT x6800!! Save the money go for a E6700 and spend more money on ram or other things! EDIT: but if this is going to be the "ultimate build" The X6800 would be a good idea. But get 4 gigs of Corsairs latest and greatest ram. | socket 939 junkie | why use stock aircooling when its an "ultimate rig" when a nice watercooling kit (cpu and 2x gpu) will run about 3-400 bucks |

| and water-cool the CPU as well ![]() Isn't the Zalman enough, or is water-cooling everything better? Main PC: Intel Pentium D 930, Asus P5LP-LE, 2GB DDR2-4300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, Lightscribe CD/DVD Drive, DVD-ROM, 300W PSU, GeForce 7300LE, Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II, HP Media Drive Port, 300 GB Hard Drive Laptop: 900 MHz Intel Moblie CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, Intel 910 Motherboard, Linux OS (customized by Asus), 8.8 x 6.5 x 0.9 inches, 7.0 Inch screen, integrated camera, 2.0(without power cord)/2.4 lbs.(with power cord) _________________________________________ |

| socket 939 junkie | yeah the zalman would be more than enough, but imo a single watercooling loop with cpu/2xgpu would reduce the amount of moving parts in the system = less chance of a failure. however your going to need a pretty powerful pump and more than likely a thermochil PA120.3 radiator to get best performance. besides you said "ultimate rig" :-P and imo it isnt ultimate unless it has exotic cooling. watercooling definitely isnt the norm in pc's yet. however it is gaining ground. ultimately its up to you how you want to set this rig up since she's your baby. do whatever makes you happy ![]() |

| I'm thinking of taking it to the ultimate level - fridge-style cooling. Main PC: Intel Pentium D 930, Asus P5LP-LE, 2GB DDR2-4300 RAM @ 4-4-4-12, Lightscribe CD/DVD Drive, DVD-ROM, 300W PSU, GeForce 7300LE, Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II, HP Media Drive Port, 300 GB Hard Drive Laptop: 900 MHz Intel Moblie CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, Intel 910 Motherboard, Linux OS (customized by Asus), 8.8 x 6.5 x 0.9 inches, 7.0 Inch screen, integrated camera, 2.0(without power cord)/2.4 lbs.(with power cord) _________________________________________ |

| We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | its just not worth the trouble. I have a semi-disassembled prommie sitting here next to my desk that I have no real interest in putting back together......Unless INTEL decides to bring the Prescott cores back INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |

| Functional Alcoholic | Yeah not a good idea. Phase Change Cooling is probably a better Idea, for "Ultimate Cooling". |
