You've mentioned you've reinstalled Windows several times, but have you double, triple, and quadruple checked that you're installing the correct drivers afterwards?

And when you do load the drivers, get the latest and greatest from the various makers. Not the driver disc(s) that came with the stuff.

I was checking temps after my last crash.

CPU was at 36c, GPU was at 48c, but, the chipset next to the cpu (no fan on it.) was really hot to the touch.

I took one of the fans out of my old case and put it over it. So ill see if it was that that has been overheating.

EDIT: wasnt it... kept it down at 40c and still crashed.

found this, this sounds like an exact match to my problems!

"Pros: It is a great card for the price. With updated bios it will work excellent.

Cons: Faulty bios. Black screen when loading games. The black screen does not appear for all games. It is sorta random. Some games for some people, it will go black others it wont. Do your research and read through the evga forums. It's not just evga other manufacturers are having the same issue with the batch of boards with the faulty bios.

Other Thoughts: If you get one with faulty bios (evga knows about the issue with this card)Be prepared to go through the RMA process. I was unlucky and got one and am ticked off because it will take about 2 weeks + to get it back. Had I known about the bios issue I would have looked for a way to get a card with the updated bios...If that is even possible. Good luck and purchase at your own risk!"

Does this sound legit?

confirmed
RE: 9600GT SSC Edition Black Screen Crashes
