| HL's Technomancer | Stinger's right, the XP-M 2500+ has a lower FSB of 133MHz compared to the 166MHz of comparable models, so you may have to fiddle with the jumpers. (Back in our day, sonny, we had to toggle switches...) Also since you can get into the BIOS, make sure that the settings are correct in there as well, it may be detecting your mobile Athlon as a standard Barton and applying the 166MHz FSB. |

| HL's Technomancer | Haha, when I came into the scene AMD processors had that mysterious Hyper Transport. I just double checked, and the mobile 2500+ does have a 133MHz FSB, which would be 266MHz in the BIOS and jumpers. I do have one of those so called rare XP 2800+'s laying around here I salvaged from a junkyard, if I find it I'll give it to one of you Socket A junkies. |

| HL's Technomancer | It must be that one then, because when I got it a few fellow tech friends of mine told me what a lucky find it was and to hang on to it because only a few were produced. This was right as I was getting into the computer scene, and was planning to build a computer around it but the Athlon 64 came out and I went with that. If I find it I'm sure I can give to someone who can appreciate it. |

An old boy 50 miles south of here that I know, had one of the rare 2700's that he had clocked to 3.0ghz!!! Damn, that thing was a screamer!!! Hell it would probably do pretty good today, if it wasn't for the fact that it was on the AGP type board But man, it was a hell of a chip!!!I currently have an 1800 mobile, at least I think it is a mobile, due to the Barton looking chip on it, but it is green?? Any how, it is suppose to be a 133 chip, and I have it running with a 200 fsb! It shows up at 1.97Xghz. Hell factory I believe the 1800 ran at just over 1.4.......At least as I can recall. | |

| Colonel Calamity | Most of the mobile chips at that time ran with a 100 or 133 fsb (100MHz with PC100 or 133MHz with PC133 or DDR 266) . The 2600+ Barton XP-M I have has the 133 fsb... compared to my XP3000+ Barton with a 200fsb. edit: another thing I just remembered, some people mistakenly used and sold some AthlonXPs as "M" that were really MP (multi-processor for 2 cpu socket boards). Some boards can handle the MP as a single CPU but others cannot. I would look at the numbers on the cpu and look them up online to be sure this really is a mobile "M" and not a multi-proc "MP". I remember that "M" versus "MP" debate that caused some confusion. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members.
