| I just drained the loop and took everything apart. I did a visual inspection of the board and it looks fine (not that I knew what to look for but nothing looked bad). I did clear the CMOS earlier during the inital troubleshooting. Before I disassembled, I did plug in a regular fan to the CPU fan header. It wasn't a 4 pin fan though. But I always have the CPU fan header empty because of my loop and in the past after I cleared CMOS, I would get a BIOS warning. Now I can't even get to post! I have had the worst week. What a way to start the New Year! If anything is bad, I just hope its not the CPU. I'm going to put everything back together here in a few minutes and see what happens. |

| Is there any LED code indicator on your board? If so, what does it say? ![]() |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Damn Raid!!! Man it is starting to sound like the mobo took a big dump man ![]() ![]() This board, I am assuming is the one in your sig? If so, I see that it is an Asus board, so, have you been to the Asus member forums for that particular mother board to see if anyone else has had the same issues? |

| If the CPU is bad, Intel *should* RMA it. Pull the CPU out, and see if the board powers up, that should tell if the CPU has failed or not. What you could try though, is to jump the PSU power connector from the back while its plugged into the mobo. If the sytems powers up and keeps running, then for whatever reason the board is not letting the PSU stay on, if it doesn't stay on, then something is probably shorted on your motherboard Opteron 64 165--1.5GB DDR--ECS KA1 MVP(thanks HL!)--x1800GTO 256MB--Seagate 320GB SATA--Antec 550 Watt--Antec P180 |

| How will the board power up without a CPU? ![]() |

| HL's Technomancer | Motherboard will power up and run just fine without a processor, RAM, or anything but the PSU attached. It won't be good for much, obviously, but its a good way to test the board to see if it's still working. |

| You won't be able to get into the BIOS or anything though right? ![]() |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Very true!!!! You can take a brand new mobo out of the box, and plug in a power supply, and short the power pins and it will post to the BIOS. |

| HL's Technomancer | Yep, you can. Depending on the board, it may just spew a No CPU error at you, but most can. The board will just load from the BIOS chip and it's own few kilobytes of onboard memory. Not good for much, but it works just fine. |
