I think I have bought mostly from Newegg during this project. I used Performance PCs and ZipZoomFly a couple of times though. But Newegg, even if they're a tad more $$ than others, seems to be my goto site for parts.

Default VF700cuLED

Well...I have the VF700cuLED installed and going on my 7800GT, and I have a preliminary performance report...

I was going to say I hadn't had a chance to test loaded temps yet - because I was working on the rig all day yesterday with this thing and my lights - but I just did (so I can show comparitive temps) with FarCry and RCT3 (with a pretty heavy park). As far as idle temps, from what I can tell so far I have dropped idle temps about 4°C, to 38°C, down from 42°, with the LED fan running on full 12V. I wanted to run it on 5V (the only other option, other than hooking it up to a controller), and I did have it on 5V for a brief time until I noticed idle temps around 46°, which would be expected on the slower fan speed.

I put it on a Zalman Fanmate that I had and tested it for noise between the high and low settings, and there was not that much difference, and still much quieter than the stock HSF in either case, so I put it back on full 12V, which also makes for a brighter LED too.

As for loaded temps, (with an ambient room temp of 79°F with a cool breeze coming in) FarCry showed 53-54°C, which is a good 7-8° drop from what I got when using the stock HSF. I tried turning some of my case fans up a bit, but the numbers stayed about the same. Without the breeze, I imagine temps might go up a tad. RCT3 showed even lower numbers. It loaded at 42°C, and went down to 40-41° if I turned up the case fans.

So there you go...it seems like I made a good choice for a video cooler. :smt080

WOW! Those are very impressive results. It must be the difference between the AlCu and the Cu versions because I had the VF700-AlCu on my 6600GT and I idle in the low 50's and load in the 60's and 70's :(

Woah?! Really? I have the VF700-ALCU and my overclocked (slightly) 6600GT loads at around 50-60.

*clears throat...does Yoda impression...*

Mmm - Lying to you, I am not. *ends Yoda impression*

I am dead serious about the temps. I you would like to see them, I can get some pics.
I sort of wish my Big Typhoon was all copper, (as with the base and the heat pipes) but the part the fan blows through is aluminum. If it were all copper (and I'm at a loss as to why they didn't make an all cu version), my cpu temps might be several degrees lower. But, 30° idle/38° load isn't bad I guess.

I didn't really know what to expect from it, even if it is all copper, because I've never used an aftermarket cooler for a video card before. I am very pleased with it's cooling performance.
Might I suggest that you guys get the all copper version. I think you would be very happy with it. Of course, I can't speak anything about the temps on the RAM chips either before or after I put this cooler on, but they certainly look nice.
