The only items that should be pluged in are the processor, video card, and RAM. Also see if your motherboard has the square 4 pin power plug on it.
Once the above is taken care of, then hit the switch. | Agreed. Try just booting with only the very basics installed to see if it will do something.
You could also try reseating the processor. I had an old Abit NF7-S that I was sure was DOA (bought from another person on a different forum) and I tried for weeks to get the thing to work and never could. I finally resold it As-Is under the pretense that it was dead and I couldn't get it to work. The person who bought it e-mailed me back and said they got it working after a couple tries. They ended up reseating the CPU a few times and it finally decided to work. So as much as it will suck, try removing all the components (motherboard included in case there is a short happening somewhere) and reinstall everything. Just another possibility to scratch off the list of troubleshooting steps...
You could try another motherboard or processor or video card or something (if you have them available) to see if you can get anything at all to work. It does sound like a motherboard problem though, but are you sure the power supply is good? Have you tested it in another system? |
