| Alright, more problems... I overclocked too high and I was forced to clear the CMOS. Upon rebooting the system, I can no longer get into the BIOS. I hold Delete down like I normally do, but it doesn't seem to do anything. The system goes on to boot into Windows. I then cleared the CMOS a number of times, and took the CMOS battery out for 30min., but to no avail... I still can't get into the BIOS. Help? I have no idea why this happened. | OK, for some odd reason I got into the BIOS once! But only once... I tried a few times after and it wouldn't go... And the results: ![]() ![]() ![]() This doesn't really show the potential of this board. I could have gone a lot higher, but I couldn't get back into the BIOS... | another thing about DFI baords, They are power and memory picky I have seen even good PSUs fail to keep clean power going to DFI boards and have had memory that clocked and ran well in other boards fail on a DFI. play around when you have problems, swap RAM slots try it with only one stick. you may fins that your RAM does not work well in the DFI board. | Colonel Calamity | just because Mr Joe at XYZ forums got his E4300 to 4GHz on air with this same board, same memory, etc does not mean you are guaranteed anything close. You may only see up to a stable 2.2GHz. Do not expect that simply because others have that you will also. I would say that a 1.8 to 3.0 is a VERY good overclock. If you can;t back in the bios then this means your current clock is probably a bit too high still. Knock it down a few notches until you have full bios access and windows is stable under full clock. Download and install TAT and set both cores to 100% and let it run for 24 hours, keeping an eye on temps and for stability problems. ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! | Screwballl, I can't get into the BIOS even at stock settings. I cleared the CMOS numerous times and took the CMOS battery out for 30min., but I still can't get back into the BIOS. I'm using OCCT for stress tests, and it does a pretty good job. I like it because it integrates CoreTemps temperature monitor into it and because it gives you a handy little graph after the stress test is done. | you may need to grab KillMos and run that to clear out the CMOS on that board. DFI has some flaky BIOSes. I had to do that to get a BIOS update to run. there is an ISO floating around that has KillMos on it. I would grab it use that then see if you can get back into the BIOS. | We take both criticism and positive comments very positively | Sometimes even the best enthusiasts overlook the simplest things....are you using a USB keyboard and mouse? I've found that sometimes these have problems with DFI boards and boot issues. As to the memory, Sean nailed it on the head.......A lot of people completely gave up on DFI because of all the memory issues. I personally wrote them off for personal uses when they started badmouthing Corsair because of stability issues. In my opinion, there is a fine line between putting out an excellent enthusiast product and putting out a product that is tweaked so heavily that it just becomes a headache. Instead of focusing on building their boards with the best possible components (As ASUS and Gigabyte do). DFI instead uses fairly common components and instead focuses on the BIOS writing of Oskar Wu INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU |
