Try using a blank HD with all of his stuff (including his mobo).
See if you can start installing vista or something.

If that doesn't work then it's a mobo issue and his HD is corrupted.

Parker, the problem is, I don't have a blank HDD just lying around to test your theory.

Hhmmm, If I hadn't used that extra 20GB hd for my sister, I would have lent it to you

So you try your HD on his mobo and got a BSOD....
It's probably a prob with his mobo...

If you need a HDD, I can send one to you Yellow. It'll be an old IDE one, but at least then you can rule it out. Have you checked for any black marks? Did the guy use a vacuum cleaner on it lately to clean it out? Are the NB/SB heatsinks properly seated?

Thanks man!

The mobo itself has no visible damage. NB and SB heatsinks are seated properly.

Nate, i've got an idea.
Why don't you try a different SATA port on the mobo (his mobo)?
Also try using a different SATA cable, cuz the one your using might have problems or it's the SATA port on the mobo.

Just an idea
Let us know.
