| well I got a repliy, but its not plaung up anymore. anyway the advise seems a little OTT, see what you think; Dear customer, Thanks for your enquiry. Please try the steps below to fix the delay write failures message and feel free to ask me for any further problem. 1)You may refer the link below for the description of the event 50 in the log file: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816004/ 2)Changing PCI Latency to 128 in the System's BIOS seems to fix the problem 3)increasing the value for page table entries. To increase the value for page table entries, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, in the Open: box type regedit, and then click OK. 2. Locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management 3. In the right pane, right-click the value SystemPages, and then click Modify. 4. In the Value data box, type the following value: 0xFFFFFFFF and then click OK. 5. Exit Registry Editor. Kind Regards, Seagate Technical Support Team Will any of that stuff do any harm? I dont touch the regresty or pci latency. |

| Modder-ator | I've never known anyone to tweak any of those things, so I can't really tell you what would happen either way. Just make sure you backup your important data before you make any significant changes to your system like this ![]() |

| its on and off and im sure it the hard drive. i'll RMA it asap. but it works fine for a while, passes all the tests I throw at it then it will start crashing, failing, blue screening then not booting again. Is this behavor normal for a dying disk? |

| its really annoying me it works for a week then wont even boot up for ages. I had non-stop delayed write failures all starting with volume/hardisk01/(programme or CFT). went on my computer and the hdd wasnt listed. pressed shut down and it was the old classic windows me and before drop down list. run time errors. everything stops responding. not sure it anyones ever seen it but i ran passmarks 'burnin test' for the hdd and it failed horribly at writing (errors and 0.0035 mb/s write speed). but now its slower than normal, but its passing tests and booting up. I think thats everything thats happened. |

| Silence..Or I kill you! | Is it a IDE drive or a SATA drive???? If it is a SATA drive, be sure to just plug one power supply line to that drive!!! Either the SATA power or the regular molex connector, do not use both! |
