maybe memtest might give you the anwser to your problems. maybe. Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic. download the free ISO and unzip and burn it to a cd, then boot from the cd and run tests for several hours. if its erroring then u may have bad ram, take out 1 stick and try again. if that errors put in the other and take out the erroring one and then try again. good luck

Hi qazwsx:
I seem to be 2-3 replies behind what you've posted..

There's some heavy duty reads in those links you've posted a while back..

I got into trying to update drivers and all.. after doing a few it only produced Blue Screens more often.. I save restore points, after updating drivers only to return to the drivers that were already installed.. I even attempted to force updated drivers.. NO-GO.. I'm gonna download the Memory test procedure.. and give that a go..

I even think that this machine is running warmer than usual.. It's been pretty hot over here.. even close to record temperatures.. Maybe, this is aggravating Blue Screens.. Who knows??

In this machine I have one memory card.. The main board has three memory slots.. Could this board and operating system benefit from more ram? What could a CUSL2c M/B and XP Home setup recognize in ram size? Even if there were more ram to use, would this improve it's behaviour-and-performance?

An observation:
The machine is more likely to Blue Screen just after Boot-up than after starting a Multi-Track Audio Session or after several hours into an Editing Session..

The drive scan identified three areas where driver update appeared necessary.. One was.. a driver update for a USB "Hotfix" One was.. a Game port driver for the S/B Live audio card Gameport.. and one was for the Intel ATA Raid Hard drive Manager.. But.. I use the StarTech- Promise-T latest drivers for that Set-up on this computer..

Question??
Could re-adjusting the Virtual Memory Allocation help this issue? I remember adjusting that parameter some time ago.. when I brought this machine up to what is called "Audio Specs" These are a series of updating the computer's configuration for DAW use.. It means bringing the Operating System out of and beyond XP's default configuration/setup..

Bill..

I don't konw then, maybe the temps could be causing instability but I dont think its likely. Im pretty sure 512mb is the max that motherboard can handel so upgrading the ram would be pointless.

Sorry I dont have a clue when it comes to virtual memory. After memtest ive got no more ideas. Was any of this happening before the trojan?

sorry I couldnt be of anymore help.
