Default More plaguing problems

Edit: Re-reading this post, I'm not sure what kind of help I was expecting. The moderators can go ahead and lock this thread, I guess I just needed to vent for a bit.

Okay, this is really starting to get to me. I seem to be getting one problem after another.

Well, I started getting the game glitches again. I went over everything I could think of in their tech department and everything. I noticed my computer was using a high amount of page file (1.13GB of it). Thinking this might be causing the problem I ran a hard drive diagnostic. Well, that didn't make my feel any better .

The drive errors out on the long test saying "UNABLE TO CORRECT THE ERRORS FOUND - PLEASE CONTACT TECHNICAL SUPPORT. ERROR/STATUS CODE: 0226".

So is this really the hard drive? It makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong, this is the only computer that does this. The problems are getting less frequent, but I still have this problem. Should I return this drive?

What hard drive diagnostic did you run?

The Western Digital Date Life Diagnostics or whatever it's called.

Looking at the error codes, definitely had to replace.

Well, I've had good luck with the one RMA I had to do with Western Digital. If their own utility found errors and you are getting constant problems, then it might be worth a try to get it replaced.

Yeah, I figured. I'm doing the advance replacement, so I should have the "new" drive on Monday. Hopefully this one works better. I'm going to run the diagnostic tests on this drive too though. If it pops out errors, I'm going to call WD and give them a piece of my mind

WD has good RMA. I've done "many" (much less than Maxtor) and they are always very courteous. There's once though they sent me a refurb drive that turned out to be bad too but they promptly resent me a working one.

only once did I have to do an RMA myself through WD and it was fast and easy process... even at a previous tech job the few RMAs we did, they were great!

Thanks HL and Corsair!

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I'll second that. I just recently RMA'd what I think was the third (or fourth) faulty WD4000KD hard drive which, on a semi-related note, they've finally replaced with an updated model (WD4001ABYS). I used the Advanced RMA and it's been painless each time.

Hmm seems like they've had problems with the WD4000KD. I have to say I never encountered one, always been WD3200 or WD5000. 400 just doesn't look cool. :P
