| Yeah, looking at Capper's post and what you have done I would say the motherboard is toast. I don't see the how or why but, as Capper mentions if the HSF is fine and nothing jarred out of place, maybe it is toast. Guessing you could try remove and replace the same processor but see no real merit in that? You tried another PSU so... looking like motherboard. Ron |

| HL's Technomancer | Yeah, I believe it is since nothing starts up at all when I hit the onboard switch, not even the case fans or PSU fans. The processor was secure, nothing seemed out of place at all. I tested the PSU by leaving it on and plugged in for awhile as I dont have a voltage tester, and it was fine. No obvious odors other then its new smell since I just bought it. My old 754 Abit took a beating (dropped, moved between cases, large heatsinks falling all over it) and still works for the person I gave it too, and this one fries out from the impact of an object two feet above it. Well, I wanted a SLI capable board anyway ![]() |

| Functional Alcoholic | The one thing no one mentioned that you might check. Look at the power switch on the case. If its, loose, or damaged it might cause a short preventing the system from powering up. I see your DFI board has an onboard power switch that you have tried to use, so this is not likely the issue, but worth a check. My only other suggestion before you call it quits on this Mobo, is to do what Panda suggested. Remove everything from the case, and place it on something non conductive, like wood. Then using the mobo power switch see if the system powers up. |

| HL's Technomancer | Well, I tried everything suggested and nothing. I only get the red power LED on the mobo, nothing comes on at all which makes me think it must have shorted somewhere since the impact jolted the PSU while it was running. I went ahead and ordered Evga's nforce 590 SLI from Newegg, I'm digging the black PCB and its only 99 after MIR Newegg.com - EVGA 122-M2-NF59-TR Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail Wanted a good SLI board anyway since Nvidia is supposed to be coming out with 8600's with a 256-bit interface this summer sometime (8600 Ultra?) |

| Functional Alcoholic | Best of luck, I know how frustrating it is to loose a piece of hardware to a freak accident. Hopefully the new MoBo will fix all your issues. Unfortunately you won't know if anything else is damaged until your new MoBo comes in. |

| HL's Technomancer | Ok, update time. I got my new mobo in today, and what a beauty she is...er was. Before I did anything, I hooked it up to my good power supply and it booted flawlessly. Then, I hooked up my Hiper and...the death cry of a motherboard isnt something I'd like to hear again. Talking crazy whirling of the northbridge fan, all the LEDs flashing like a runway, and the LED indicators blinking numbers and weird glitchy symbols rapidly. Then I hooked it up to my standby PSU and only the power LED came on like with my first mobo. So, I know my Hiper is borked ![]() I'm RMAing the new mobo back to Newegg, and luckily I just bought my PSU last month so I'll be RMAing that as well. Good thing my common sense told me to keep all the original packaging. I haven't been able to check the RAM, VGA or Processor, so hopefully I get lucky and those are still ok. I can RMA the memory, but the VGA was second hand and the Proc is out of its 30 day return timeline. X2's are almost dirt cheap now, and I was going to upgrade the video card anyway. Hurray for Newegg's RMA policy! |

| Modder-ator | Oh wow, sorry to hear about your problems! Sounds like your motherboard was possessed by the devil himself! Maybe an exorcist would help? ![]() Seriously though, I've heard of several people who have killed motherboard after motherboard troubleshooting a borked system because of a malfunctioning PSU, so don't get down on yourself, it happens to the best of us! Good luck with the RMA process and if you run into any problems with either company, please let us know and we'll try our best to get your issue settled ASAP. ![]() |

| HL's Technomancer | I swear, with the way the fans were screaming I wouldn't have been surprised if the thing started levitating, spinning and throwing things across the room. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it. Newegg hasnt given me any problems before, and they've approved both the mobo and PSU to be returned. I'll mail those out Thursday or so, and hopefully have my system back in the next week or so. Too bad I cant RMA my original motherboard as I modded it into a Nforce4 SLI, but this new one is so much better anyway I'm glad I bought it (when I get a new one that doesnt need holy water that is) |
