sure Polobunny...remember what I do for a living...test hardwasre under different conditions and enviroments. In the past 18 months I've replaced 4 DFI NF4 boards that died under 24/7 O/C between 250-300 FSB, 2 ASUS boards, and one MSI board.
Overclocking puts a pretty significant strain on components, and it really does shorten their lifespan.....for most of us thats an acceptable risk, the problem is that a lot of people don't really know what they are doing or understand that everything has its limits...and when they kill it they get upset and call it bad hardware.

Yeah I get what you mean by acceptable risk. I guess since my hardware changes alot i'm staying pretty far from problems, but on longer usage then it's something else.

Depends on how you look at luck.

You could build one!

It's not like I can't build a PC. I know how. I could probably put it together in under an hour, maybe a little more. That's for not even building a computer before. I just know how to do it. I've seen a PC built (Athlon XP days) before though, but not for the whole thing.

I would love to build a PC before going to college. But I think a laptop would be handier.

I don't know about putting together a computer in under an hour. It might take a little longer. It takes me a good 2 hours, more or less, to build and tweak a system before I install windows. That includes wire management and anything else.

I meant putting it all together. Not including installing Windows and tidying up... or tweaking for that matter.

I can do 15 minutes, yeah beat that. IDE cables folded and all. ;D

So except of pumping my geek ego, you should build a computer. It's really a load of fun, learning and after you're done you can say you did it. You know I build a few computers per day and it's really not the same as your own system.
Sometimes i'll just open my case and think "Wait, airflow could be better if this cable was this way and that power was going to there and there" then i'll redo the whole thing over night. :P
Yep, I love my computer and he loves me too.</geek>
