Something else that was mentioned where I found the last info I posted - Manta mentioned software - nto sure if we went down that road yet. The other person has a Dell; they were told to look for Musicbox software.

Makes me want to crawl the attic to find hubby's drive...

omg i tried everything :) i think i ll have to buy an external one, so if i get this;

Did this happen when you still had the warrenty?

Can you pin it down to a windows update or something?

nop it happened after 3 years i have it since 3 years and never had any problem but now :(

What I meant was, can you figure out a time frame when the drive stopped working? If so, go to windows update and view you're download history. See if there was an update around the time it went down; it may be due to that. I'm pretty sure that our's was.

Did you try googling to see if anyone else is having this issue? I wonder if HP needs to put out some kind of XP sp2 patch.
