Nah, video card wouldn't return that error. It would point to something like nvdisp.dll being the error. See if you can't lock the CPU into running at the speed it's supposed to in the BIOS.

And yeah, 51 is safe.

Ok I acutally RMAed the thermaltake and got a a replacement due to tarnish. I just switched out CPU heatsink and fan and the idle chip #0 temp if 46 on one program and 51 on another. Here is the rub. I bot it from tiger direct which is out of the chip. They cant tell me when they will be getting in new stock and I can ony exchange the item for another e8500.

I played Crysis again and as usual ten or so mins into the game it froze but no Blue screen. I quickly checked the cpu temp in the bios it was 29 and the system temp was 50 something sorry but I forgot int he few second it took me to log in.

I ran a stress test and got another BSOD error "Driver not equal or less" so now I am at a total loss. I am assuming its a harware failure, am I wrong. SInce the stress test doesnt stress the HD can I rule that out as the source of the problem? and again, my memory passed memtest twice.

I unplugged the new harddrive(which had win xp) and plugged in my old raptor and did a fresh win xp sp2 install. I DID NOT up date the OS, I DID NOT put on my internet security software and I DID NOT put on any motherbaord utilities, I DID put crysis back on and what do you know, no blue screen and I can play longer than ten mins. Now, do we think its was the new hard drive, a windows update, or some of the utility programs that might be casuing the issues.

what security software were you using? I have had problems with so many security programs in the past...

bitdefender. Could that be the probem? Would it give inconsistant BSOD errors? Never while playing FEAR, once while stress testing, always during crysis? i got a win32.sys error and the others noted in above posts during various procedures.

work your way back tot he same level... start with SP2 or Windows updates.... play the games...
then get the motherboard driver updates... play some games
then try bitdefender... and play the games...
look at each step to see at what point the blue screens start. If it is after something specific is installed then thats likely the problem. Remove that specific item and try again without it.

Too good to be true. Crysis froze, no blue screen. What doesthis tell me? With minimal programs running in the background, my system was more stable. Can we assume it is not a HD issue? Core temp shows core#0 at 51 after reboot. It is usually this temp in the morning which seems high. Maybe since I didnt have background programs running the CPU took longer to heat up, if an overheated CPU is the problem. DOes that make sense>
