That's it, right?
Sure is! Like I said in that previous post, I just figured out that the HSF on the NB isn't the right one. I have the right one, just not attached. I got the mobo from Rich like that.

So you're not wrong, don't worry... :). Hopefully the real HSF should lower temps.

Yeah, I fixed my post right after seeing that. As for the stock heatsink...don't count on it, probably make it worse if I know DFI.

If the real HS has no fan and is the basic aluminum HS, then it will most likely make temps rise instead.

Keep it in perspective though. Even if your NB was at 57°C, that's no where near the upper limit temperature wise for that. Last time I looked into it, 110° was acceptable and folks weren't getting worried until 85°C.

Well, I guess switching them solved that problem. Since I couldn't even get off the thermal paste (I know, I'm not supposed to reuse it, but I had no choice), I switched the real aluminum one onto the board.

Well, short things short, the temps dropped to about 46C @ idle. Yay, success. And this is without any fan whatsoever.

And then here's all the temps after using IC7 Diamond thermal paste.

Brilliant! CPU dropped almost 10C.
