Try installing and running a free antivirus application like Avira or AVG to nuke the Trojan/wom infection. If that doesn't work, then you can start over by booting from the Windows disk and deleting the partition that Windows is installed on. Then create a new partition (of the same size if you want) and install Windows from scratch on the new partition you just created.

It sounds like there must be something that is temporarily shutting it down and then once it installs itself again is when it starts up.
Most of the time you can back the stuff up and once windows is reinstalled, boot into safe mode or a limited user account and run a full scan of the backup files to make sure nothing was ported over. Usually if it is just pictures then there shouldn't be a problem but anything thats .exe is better left behind.

Check this out,I never had this kind of benchmark. What do all the drops mean? It normally started high then gradually went down.

Im wondering if it's all part of the problem.

that means that something is continuously writing to the drive... likely the virus or trojan

another BIG one... do you use Outlook or Outlook Express to receive emails? Many new trojans and viruses do not even have to be opened to infect the computer, simply Outlook/OE downloading the message allows the virus to do its thing, regardless of the AntiVirus or OE settings.

While using Thunderbird it is possible but a LOT less likely to happen because of the way it handles emails and attachments.

No pron here(not saying my kid may have)...I have opened quite a few emails in hotmail, just to go to the do not send area.I dont use outlook express..that im aware of...again,dont know if my kid ever does.He has his own email accts. and myspace shit.Time to lock everyone out of it.
When I run the cleaner it cleans outlook out,I never open outlook express to check anything, maybe the kid did.
I always have my firewall set to stealth and it tells me when/if something is trying to get in/or go out.My HDD is non stop rite now,but there is nothing going in or out according to the connection.I am lost as to where to really go with it here.Maybe the HDD is fugged up?
