And on that same token, just keep correspondence with them courteous. I know that sounds obvious and should go without saying, but we had a member complain to Gigabyte in the past because he wasn't hitting a stable 4GHz (insert rolls eyes smiley here), blamed the motherboard, then berated Gigabyte over it. Situations like that make it hard to intervene.

Yes, they have been upstanding in previous RMA's. I did not loose my cool in
front of them, just straight to the point and not insulting thier integrity.

Maybe just my luck, that after I reassembled, I created a short on/in the
connection.

I've only worked on one or two Gigabyte boards, and they all gave me headaches. Very picky mobos, and since these are all older boards, I put it down to the "old stuff" syndrome. Now you make me wonder if there isn't something just a little bit wonky about Gigabyte boards, customer service nothwithstanding.

P4 2Ghz, soyo dragon2 mobo, 3x256 pc3200, radeon 9200 128Mb, pioneer 4x cd/dvd combo, 40G + 80G Hdds, pinnacle firewire, onboard sound, 35W psu
