I don't have a reason to leave it on. Its quiet, and when seeding or something I'll leave it on 24/7. But normally if its just idling or something, I turn it off.

Last I head from a (I think) Seagate rep (It may have been maxtor), most Hard Disks are actually only designed to run no more than 8 hours a day. If you want them to live a long life, shut them down at night, or buy an SCSI drive.

Eh, the Raptor is an enterprise drive, so if it doesn't like being left on....and the other drives I have aren't exactly slouches either (WD 2500KS in RAID0). I hope that the 8 hour thing is FUD...

I keep mine on 24/7 (unless a hurricane cuts the power)

Usually mine are on, my lappy hasn't been running right, so that's shut down. Have to switch one of the other machines for Simple_Inhibition since it was folding in his name. My Xeon's been making weird noises, have to get that running right so I can use it.

Electrics been high so my machines may be getting shut down for the night
