But it just doesn't make sense that it would work for a week and stop, especially considering I never overclocked it or anything.
Could you quote my edited post? It would make alot more sense :P

Anyway's I'm about 99% sure its a corrupted BIOS. A borked CPU = An error message about the CPU not being recognized and/or warning beeps. No CPU should = Just warning beeps.

If you have a spare floppy laying around, see if you can find a floppy and a BIOS image from ASUS's web site and flash the BIOS.

If I remember correctly, the Asus mobos have a crash free BIOS feature that lets you restore the BIOS from the CD. I have never used it, but reading through the manual for my board (A8N5X) it appears that the Asus driver cd is bootable and should just boot into the BIOS recovery utility.

That doesn't do much good if the chip itself is bad though, which it seems to be. Besides, I couldn't boot anything at all.

Hey Yuri, do you know how to replace a Bios chip????

If you do, then I am sorry for asking, but it is real important to pull the chip completely strait out!!!!!

Some times when the new boards are fitted with a Bios chip, the manufacture screws up the Bios socket to begin with, and if that is the case, the new Bios chip will most likely give you the same probs!

After you pull the original Bios chip up and out, get a magnifing glass, and take a good look inside the socket itself. If you see any bent back or side ways tabs, you can attemt to put them back into place or just call and RMA the mobo.
The best way to get them back in place is with a good strait pin.

Again man, be sure to pull that Bios chip strait up and out of the socket!!!

And, do you have the little Bios puller? If not, you can do it with 2 little strait picks or 2 little jewlers screw drivers.

Oh yea, and by the way man, I hope that it takes care of the issues man, you sure have been having some real bad luck lately!

Actually, I'm very glad you asked because I've never done it before (as you can tell, I'm somewhat of a hardware virgin).

No, I don't have a BIOS puller. You mean tooth picks when you said straight picks? Thanks for the tips. I'll let you know if I have more questions tomorrow.

Toothpicks will likely break, you need something metallic and rather straight.
You can take 2 hair clips like those and unfold them then use the straight leg if you can't find anything small enough.

They can be kind of a bugger the first time Yuri, so just take your time, and make sure that you pull it strait up!! Get comfortable before you start.

Oh yea, one other real important thing PULL THE BATTERY!!! Before you do it. If the motherboard has the clr-cmos jumper go ahead and remove it as well, and then when you get the new Bios installed, jump the clr-cmos for about 15 or 20 seconds and then install the jumper in the run mode.

No, I meant the metal mechanic's type of pick. But you can also do what Polobunny suggested and get a couple of bobby pins and straiten them up and use.

Good news:

I now have an RMA number for both the motherboard and the CPU. The motherboard was easy since I just bought it, but the CPU was a little more complicated. NewEgg's product page claims that the manufacturer (AMD) has a one year warranty on this OEM product. AMD says they do have a one year warranty on OEM products, but this is only to the retailer, and it's up to them whether or not to extend this warranty on to the consumer. NewEgg does not; they only offer 30 days. After several hours of phone calls, I finally got the NewEgg supervisor to honor the one year warranty that they falsely claimed I would have had from the manufacturer.

I won't hold my breath, but it looks like I'll be getting my parts replaced, and they're even paying the shipping
