Hmmmm...Lets first try contacting the company and seeing if they have any suggestions......if not, then I'd try maybe installing Windows on that other HDD and migrating the data over

INTEL E8400 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 4GB DDR3-1600 // Palit HD 4870 // Antec 1200 // Seagate 750GB HDD // Zalman CNPS9700 // BFG ES 800W PSU

i did that and nothing... it just show empty HDD, but still shows 111gb free space... so where is my more or less 9gb of data...

i run demo data recovery software they detect my lost files but since its a demo i need to purchase it... and to add up with the BS situtation of mine, software says there are no warranty of being able to recovery to previous health means i can recover it but it can be damaged data already it might not be readable at all...

Rich is this worth the burden or should i leave it alone...

and if i choose not to recover it, how will i gain back the space it is still occupying...

Actually...Much of that is simply a difference in how Megabytes are calculated. They advertize based on a megabyte being 1,000,000 bytes. In reality, your computer reports gigabytes based on megabytes being 1024 kilobytes, which are 1024 bytes. A gigabyte is 1024 megabytes. Therefore, if you divide 120,000,000,000 by 1024 three times, you see 111GB is the right number.

What your seeing is what the drive actually has for space, you haven't lost 9 gigabytes you never had them.

try the apps that Paul recommended....I know one was a pay app, the other was a free app.

Yep, that's exactly right. Its not that "you never had" the space, it's that windows measures the drive capacity in a different way than the drive manufacturers do.

okie... aside of my virginity to the drive calculations...

when i run the software recovery demo... i actually saw my files, but its no longer accessible...

and quote Rich...
the applications paul recommended that was free can actually only allow you to recover 1mb a day and it will not allow you which one you wan to recover...

anyway so to say, my HDD is fresh and nothing on it unless i run a data recovery software...

this really a bad week for me...

Hmm...seems like you either have to do search some more or just buy the software :( Whatever you do though, do NOT atempt to put any kind of data on the seagate..it WILL overwrite your old data
