What about a faulty modem or video card? I've seen peripherals render a computer useless when plugged, but the same computer would work fine when those were unplugged. Rare, but happens. Do as Stinger said and hope for the best, a broken modem.

if it was the video card or modem it should at least fire up the fans. A DFI board will fire up and show the diagnostic lights...but if nothing at all is happening, its the board

Just a thought, but sometimes a faulty USB device attached to the system will malfunction, causing problems. Probably not the case, but it's worth checking.

Yes, yes, make sure you don't have a printer, or the likes pluged into a usb port!!! Very good point linuxcrazy. Most all of the usb devices use somewhat of the usb power to read, write, or something along that line. If you have something pluged in that is faulty, it could sure cause a back feed in the power side of the usb.

It's always a good idea to strip down to the bare necesities when you are trying to troubleshoot a problem (and that advice only applies to computers, not your personal life!)

Do you have the right mixture of gas and oil? Screws my chainsaw up when I don't get that right.

Have you cleared the CMOS battery?

i hope i can RMA this mobo, i don't have the cash right now to get another good quality mobo.

If its not even starting up there is the possibility that your start button jumper is not working correctly. Take off the power button jumper from your motherboard and use the on board power button.
