I did a driver scan, and it said the following drivers are not up to date.
Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
Realtek High Definition Audio

I beleive you linked me to the audio one, I will try and locate the other 2. But if you know where to find them please let me know. I have a hard time finding things like this :)
The 3 links I posted above should cover all 3 of those things. The IDE controller is usually handled by the chipset.

The GPU temp doesnt show up in bios. And im not sure where else to check it.

EDIT: memtest came back with no errors.
just use the old finger check :) place the card under load (3dmark or any demanding game) and check the cooler by touching it... I'm not sure if the 9600 has a temp sensor, if yes than you can activate the readout in the nvidia control panel with nvtweak, coolbits or nvtuner.

the chipset doesnt get hot.

The card where it connects to the mobo is alittle hot, but nothing i would worry about.

There is however a gigabyte heat sinc next to the cpu that doesnt have any kind of fan on it and it seems like its getting alot warmer then it should.

If anyone has this mobo its the gold heatsync.

EDIT: also, i dont know if this can cause long term damage but I had placed an older hardrive in with the sata drive. And i had the jumper set to be a master drive with a slave, instead of a slave drive. (the old drive is not sata, it used the old style ribbon connector.)

Set the IDE drive as Master (no slave).
No jumpers or master/slave settings needed with the SATA drive. You can use IDE/PATA drives side by side with SATA drives without a problem. The Master/Slave setting is only in relation to another IDE/PATA drive (hard drive, CD drive, etc). Thats what is great about SATA, no more jumpers that we need to mess with.

My older HD I know is good because i have used it for 3 years. So I'm gonna do a fresh install with only it in and see if that fix's anything.

If that fails, Im gonna try a new dvd-rom. (since i got errors installing windows, and they are only $30) If that doesnt work, what should i try next?

EDIT:
So far so good.

I only have my old HD in and everything is running smooth for the last 3 hours.

Guess i got a bad seagate. Now to test out newegg's return policy.

have you tried hooking up the SATA drive only and installing/running windows on it?? I am wondering if there may be some weird conflict there...
each time with these tests you can go without "registering" windows for usually 30 days...

yeah, i tried it with out the old drive before i started posting here.

So, either my HD was bad, or my mobo cant handle sata properly. but my dvd rom is sata, so i doubt thats it.

Before you go through the process of returning the drive, you might want to try running Seagate's diagnostic tools (called "SeaTools") to see if it finds any errors or bad sectors or something.
