| Hopefully you don't think I'm an idiot for stressing this but what I mean is underneath the motherboard, there are standoffs for the motherboard. You might have an extra one screwed in, shorting the motherboard and preventing it from turning on. I don't think you're stupid, but you never know, it's a possibility. ![]() |

| Did you install the standoffs that came with your case, prior to installing your motherboard? Here's a pic of standoffs. | Take apart the entire computer. All parts out of the case. Put everything carefully into the case again, check all connections, make sure everything goes where is supposed to go. Just take your time and go slow. Usually you miss something really small and you have a "Doh!" moment afterwards. ![]() |

| I'd suggest just try booting up with the bare essentials: Mobo, CPU, RAM, Video card (unless you're using onboard), PSU, hard drive. Disconnect everything else and give it a go. | Do the ram test below first. Make sure your reset button is lined up right (+,-) often they are set up opposite the #1 pin alignment. Go over every connection from scratch starting with the front panel Mobo connectors. From scratch means ... don't assume anything ... but verify with certainty. After a complete re-setup ... if there is still failure ... troubleshoot each component ... cd, floppy etc. ... use the cables that come from the broken machine. If you find a failure ... also troubleshoot the cables. Try booting with one stick of Ram instead of two. Try a different stick of ram. (sometimes the voltages of the ram make it so they cannot boot the particular Mobo ... sometimes just one will but not two ... until voltages are reset. Sometimes a different more compatible voltage stick needs be used to get the initial boot to work and reset voltages ... timings etc. |

| well i figured out the 2x12 main power thing, i was right i just took everything back apart and put it all back in and im still getting the same response The LED on the motherboard is on, press power the tower led comes on but nothing else does. Press the power button again and the tower led doesnt turn off. What causes this? Doesn't seem to be my PSU if the motherboard light is on, is it a bad processor? Only other processor in this house is an AMD so i can't throw it in mine to test it out |
