So, my guess is that the utility is overwriting some windows file(s) that it shouldn't but I am going to reinstall the rest of the hardware/drivers slowly and see if anything else happens...
The wireless card may be conflicting with the IRQ for your graphics. Once you get to that step, you may want to see if this is the case.

Well I have no pci cards in at all. I got the graphics issues again after installing the chipset drivers. THen I uninstalled the onboard nic. restarted. Reinstalled the chipset drivers again. It ran bug free for about 10 minutes, so I installed graphics driver. It has been running bug free for about another 10 minutes... So far so good...

Well here is an update. After the above reinstall, I increased the VGA shared memory to 128mb and also dropped the cpu speed down to 1600mhz (20% below stock). This CPU is an engineering sample that I had been running at 2Ghz for the past year on a stock HSF without any issues.

After these changes it has ran without any issues at all. I installed SP2, SageTV, did all the updates, Java and everything. :hmmmm:

So while I don't know the exact cause of the problems, I have no intention of backtracking for fear of having the problems again and not being able to get rid of them.

The DXDIAG still says that the approximate video memory is 256mb even though it is actually 128mb. But the onboard GPU now passes all the DXDIAG (directx) tests, which it failed to pass in the past.

I have also installed my capture card but wont venture to try to install that wireless pci card again until later tonight or tomorrow. The thing with that wireless card is that I have 2 of them and have ran them on several units without issues so I don't think that was the cause....

Hopefully that is the end of this mess.:burnout:
