You can have it so it wraps around the card so the fan is on the top of the card, out of the way of the PSU. That's one of the great things about this cooler.

I'm pretty sure with proper installation, that cooler is more than safe - not to mention adequate - for almost any setup. In terms of a card that takes up 2 PCI slots...I'm not sure how efficient it would be...or if it would even work period.

More often than not there shouldn't be any issues, but because it takes up 2 PCI slots for the cooler, there may be some space/clearance issues with the bottom bracket of the cooler if it were to be mounted upside-down (as YH pointed out)...just make sure that everything fits properly and you don't have to make any exceptions just to get the thing installed - it isn't worth the risk.

You can also check out the ZALMAN VF700 or ZALMAN VF900 - they're great cooling solutions and should clear the space between your card and your PSU (can't guarantee anything, though).

I have a VF900, and it cools the 8600GT great; but I don't know it it could cool the 8800GTX adequately. The VF900 is a dual-slot cooling solution, but the stock cooling of the 8800GTX is also, and fits just line, so I bet clearance won't be an issue. The VF900 is relatively small, and I don't know how it compares to the 8800GTX's stock cooling. My 8600GT idles at 35C with the VF900.

Just some things to think about.

Well... a few days have gone by with having the memory setting on 2t which is stock and I have not had a problem as of yet. I still have the covers off, and I played lastnight for 2 solid hours and the temps on both cards never crossed 65 degrees. I can honeslty say in the past they have reached 70 with the covers on. Although I can't gaurentee that the room temperatures were identical, but I do my best. tonights CLAN night and there will see some serious temps and gaming tonight, so it will be the test of test I think!!! Also, I was able to bump the front side bus just a smig to 1508 mhz from 1504. Although there seemed to be no change in the 3dMark score, so it might not even be worth changing.

thanks again guys, for the help...... Ill post any new news if it comes up...

Well guys.... this is how it goes.... Video cards are stock, no over clocking, the covers are still off and the temperatures using Nvidia Monitor showed they never went over 65 degrees.....after gaming from around 8pm - 11:30pm.... everything ran fine. As a bonus... I Bumped up my FSB abit more and it rest somehweres around 1512mhz which sits me at 3.4ghz, up alittle from my previous 3.38ghz...... and again no problems gaming or running Orthos for a few hours.

Computer ran great!!!!

ALso I wanted to point out something..... Everyone always tells me that if the system is getting hot to take the side door off to let the air escape... Well, when I first started to game tonight I figured I'd start with the door off..... seemed to disrupt the flow of air though casueing the cards (GPU) to reach a high of around 70 degrees (ok, so they did go higher than my previous statement, but), so I replaced the side door on the case and thats when the temps dropped and under full load for a few hours, never crossed 65 degrees. Seemed having the door on was a benefit creating a current or vaccuum to force the hot air out...... so all in all, Im think she's running great and keeping fingers crossed, no sign of the BSOD!!!!

thanks again for the help and input....

heres the OC info.....

I'm always glad to see a problem fixed and a computer running great.

Awesome setup there you've got there, and I hope it keeps giving you great performance and continues to pump out that power

If you have decent airflow...i.e., 120mm front and rear + PSU fan(s), opening the side at the least doesn't help, and as in your case, hurt your temps. That was/is true with something like an 80mm and PSU only.

Glad things are working.
