The blue screen will point you in the direction of the bad part; or should anyway. That's why I said to enable it if you didn't. Also check in the logs (cp / admin tools / event viewer) if you get it booted.

lol, I think its just a borky PSU that can't power anything. Let us know if it helps! If that doesn't help, then it has to be the motherboard.

or user error. I've built computers when I'm stressed or rushed, doesn't make for a good build...

Women are scary when stressed though!

j/k. I don't know about user error, nothing to really imply that. Could very well be that he had it on the carpet and something shorted it out. Pop goes the IDE controller!

Should have said builder error

I don't think it would matter, seeing as he is both the builder and user!

Nope, wasn't a user error, and it wasn't the carpet (I don't have any :P). You get the silver dollar for suggesting the power supply! I tested my system with an NZXT 400w PSU and it ran perfectly. Looks like I'm going to be investing in a better PSU ;)

Any suggestions for swapping PSUs? I'm not going to waste any time with another low-end one, but I'm not going to looking for a 1k PSU, either. If any of you have an extra you'd like to get some money off of, shoot me a PM :)

450-500w should suffice...... anything with around 30amps on the 12 rails would be ideal

I have a 430w Antec True Power. Shoot me your PM and it's Christmas time.

I just looked. It has one 12v rail @20A. No PCI-e power plugs and 2 SATA power plugs. I don't think this will work with your PCI-e graphics card. It's my backup/testing supply. But if you need it, it's yours.

That looks pretty comparable to the Fortron PSU that I bought (Link). I don't know a whole lot about PSUs... is that terrible? It sounds fine to me.. I'm only running one SATA drive and one IDE DVD-RAM drive, and my graphics card doesn't require extra power. What's your opinion?
