thanks for the help but im not that much of a no0b lol. I think its something more complex than that.

ok befor anyone else gets the wrong idea im listening to music now on wmp :( but its just stuff like system sounds and flash videos that dont play sound.

I would try borrowing a sound card from another system, and see if your problem goes away. If it does you know you have an issue with your onboard sound, and I would probably RMA the motherboard if you can, or just buy a sound card.

If you still have the same issue with the sound card, then you know its some sort of software related issue.

Even the most experienced enthusiasts miss the simple things sometimes. Covering even the most basic possibilities helps to ensure that the problems gets addressed. Plus, we have no way know one's experience level when making a post, so don't take it personally, we're just being thorough. Let us know how swapping in a soundcard goes. Be sure to disable the onboard when you do.

please don't be offended, we have no idea what your skill levels are, or what you've tried before asking for help. You have no idea how many times we've recommended an advanced solution, only to find out the issue was something incredibly simple that was just overlooked.
