I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I use a combination of isopropyl alcohol >90% (lower strength will do, but isn't as potent and takes longer to dry) and cotton swabs. Rinse, rub, buff (dry Q-tip), repeat. I'll repeat the process until the swabs no longer pick up any gunk, which usually takes roughly 3 passes.

Alternately, you can invest in a kit of Arctic Clean. Best damn stuff on the market for cleaning up thermal goop.

I do the same as 0ne4, but I have another step that i use. I use a coffee filter to make sure that all of the old thermal paste is off the sink and the cpu.

Yeah, the coffee filters work great because they are lint-free and should leave anything behind to get stuck in the hardware. I also try and use at least 90% Isopropyl Alcohol when cleaning (99% is ideal) because it just evaporates much faster and you don't have to worry about drying the surface of the chip.

Happy cooling.
yeah i still haven't tried it yet. busy day today. i actually put this pc up for sale to see if anyone will buy it. make a little bit of cash and rebuild it.

i was rushed when ordering the case and mistakenly bought the gigabyte 3d aurora.. instead of the aurora 570. for me to return it i will have to pay restocking and shipping and all that nonsense. it's not a bad case tho so i'll keep it if no one buys.
