Whats the best program to clear the drivers, or is there a method of clearing it completely through the registry?
DriverCleaner .NET is the best one.

Ok....three different video cards doing something that we've never heard of....are we absolutely sure that the problem isn't the monitor?

I don't think the monitor knows when im viewing my desktop or a window and then only artifacting the desktop...lol

I tried different cables before, it didn't help. I'm going to try vga cable instead of dvi, although digital is always the way to go.

Maybe its the motherboard chipset compatiblity, even though its not that new and its nvidia (who would have guessed that nvidia products are not compatible with other nvidia products).

small suggestion Max... don't change the color of the text, those of us with the black theme only see a blank post (until we highlight everything)... if you want to use a color try blue or red or something inbetween

as for your problem since it spans multiple video cards I would say something on the mobo is bad, maybe the slot itself or the chipset.

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Sorry, but I didn't change the color :S ... its on black automatically.

Is there a way to be sure that its the motherboard? I mean maybe contact Asus or something...

You mentioned an AMD card, while this may sound redundant are all of the drivers and affiliated software removed for that card? Drivers, Catalyst Control Panel, the like? Your sig mentions it and the 8600 both together, are you using both at the same time?

Yes...AMD Card...still not used to that...I uninstalled the drivers for it and removed it. its actually impossible for me to install it back without starting windows in vga mode since my monitor doesnt load its initial resolutions (can't see the boot selector either with it).

I've Plugged both the analog and the dvi in the same monitor (clone). I reset the resolutions and the artifacts disapeared from the dvi. Maybe this has some effect on it, I'll test it out for a while and see if the artifacts come back.

that may be part of the problem, your best connection is DVI and then only if the monitor doesn't have a DVI connection do you use the analog. Otherwise it will only cause problems having them both connected.

I don't think you understood what I said before. I always used DVI, but I thought maybe the problem doesn’t appear in analog, so I connected the other port (using a DVI to VGA adapter) to the monitor as well (while it was artifacting before on DVI). When I reset the resolution and all, the artifacts disappeared (never happened before unless I restarted the pc).

It's been about 12h since and my pc didn't artifact yet (both cables are connected and the video card mode is clone).

Maybe this will help solving the mystery of the random artifacts.

Holy crap!!!!! Good eye Stormcrow
Yea, if you are running a nvidia, and a ATI card at the same time, you are going to have all kinds of issues
You need to pull one or the other and just run one!!!!!!!!!!!
