| I've taken it out and replaced it again, and it goes fine until the bracket hits the case, where you put the screws to hold it in. It seems like that part is keeping the card from sliding straight down all the way.... maybe, should I pull everything out of the case and see if it works? If it does, what the hell do I do with the case.... | Know what though, now that I'm looking at it, it seems to be seated much better in that slot. I can't actually see any slant on it anymore, everything looks quite even... Is it possible that there's some other problem? Maybe I got a bad video card? edit// oops, that was a double post.. sorry Coolermaster CM690 Gigabyte EP35 DS3R Intel E8400 w/ Arctic Cooling MX-2 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro 2x1gb G.Skill 800 Seagate Barracuda 500gb EVGA 8800GT Akimbo SC Corsair VX550W Viewsonic G90fb-4 19" CRT XP Pro Last edited by duffman03; May 13th, 2008 at 18:27. | ||||||||||||||

| Loosen the screws on the motherboard so it can slide around a bit, then install your card so it lines up properly, then tighten the screws back down as needed. I've had this happen before and sometimes the motherboard gets shifted a little on the screws and makes it look like everything is totally crooked. | ||||||||||||||

| CM 690? Just push down on the rear of the card a bit more and seat it. In the pic, the rear is up more than the I/O side. It's not seating. | ||||||||||||||

| ok here's an update, I stole my friends video card and it doesn't give any display either, so my video card clearly actually ISN'T the problem. I pulled out the RAM and used one stick at a time, that didn't do anything either. So that leaves the CPU and the Motherboard. How do I test if *those* are working or not? I guess I could try and steal a CPU from my friend, as well? If the CPU doesn't change anything, should I assume it's the motherboard and RMA it? | know what, I'm gonna feel like a huge idiot if this is the case, but I just found an empty 4-pin connector hiding under the oversized Freezer Pro CPU cooler fan... says ATX_PWR next to it. I believe that this is where the power source for the CPU plugs in. .... lol. I'm gonna plug that in now. Thanks for all the help. I'll let you know how it goes. EDIT// no wonder I couldn't see the connector, my freezer 7 pro is installed 180 degrees from what it should be. Well, this is the first computer I've built, so I think maybe I'm allowed to make a few mistakes. I'll take this over faulty parts :D Coolermaster CM690 Gigabyte EP35 DS3R Intel E8400 w/ Arctic Cooling MX-2 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro 2x1gb G.Skill 800 Seagate Barracuda 500gb EVGA 8800GT Akimbo SC Corsair VX550W Viewsonic G90fb-4 19" CRT XP Pro Last edited by duffman03; May 14th, 2008 at 16:32. | ||||||||||||||

| You found this connector on the video card or on the motherboard? The video card ones are 6-pin, not 4-pin. Sometimes there are four pin molex connectors on the motherboard to help power it when two or more graphics cards are installed in SLI or CrossFire, but it usually isn't needed when running only one card. If you are talking about the square 4-pin connector up by the CPU, then YES, you need to have a cable connected there (it should have two black wires and two yellow wires for extra 12V power to the processor). | ||||||||||||||

| haha yeah, I'm talking about the one next to the CPU. I put the cooler on right, and plugged in the 4 pin connector (which looked like an 8-pin, but was really two 4's connected together) everything works fine. haha. That's slightly embarrassing, but not unexpected... on my first build, more chance of me screwing up something small like that than of the parts being faulty :P thanks for the help though! I really should've noticed this a day or two ago ;) Coolermaster CM690 Gigabyte EP35 DS3R Intel E8400 w/ Arctic Cooling MX-2 Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro 2x1gb G.Skill 800 Seagate Barracuda 500gb EVGA 8800GT Akimbo SC Corsair VX550W Viewsonic G90fb-4 19" CRT XP Pro | ||||||||||||||
