To keep things up and up, your best bet is to use Bart PE!!!!

It is LEGAL!!!!: Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD
This is why there's the Ultimate Boot CD!
Ultimate Boot CD - Overview

Free, legal, you can add your own applications. Give it a try, i've been using UBCD for a good while already. :)

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?

I have used the BartPE before....

wow I never knew that Hirens was pirated, my apologies for posting it.

I did some checking and some places say that it is illegal versions and others say they are limited trial versions but I would rather not find out.

I did my first build a few months ago and I'm wondering if you what tools/tool kit you would recommend. I've got lots of "regular" tools, some of which I used on the build. But none of them were demagnetized or anything special.

The one pictured in the thread looks like this one: Newegg.com - COMTOP 73TK-UNP-23GR 23 Pcs. PC Service Toolkit - Retail

Do I really need such a thing?

Only things I've used are a #2 Phillips screw driver with a screw holder and a pair of needle nose plies for retrieving things.

I've used magnetized screwdrivers since the pentium 2 days since most systems from that age and newer are not affected by small magnetic items like a screwdriver or small magnet to retrieve screws... i mean look at the magnetic field most CRTs put out in the past few decades, this should be enough to mess with your system if magnets affected internals...

Yeah, I use BartPE everyday. We use it here at work to image our desktops and laptops.
