My old Logitech Z-640 speakers are still kicking strong (not that they were really kicking very strong in the first place) after 4 years or so. I've been eyeing the Z5500's and the Klipsch Promedia speakers for some time though. I won't buy another computer speaker set that doesn't have at least one digital input though...

Yeah, but thankfully, I've never heard any amp failures from the Z-5500s. :)

i'll be moving my computer out of the livingroom and back to a desk. thanks to this review, i'm seriously considering the z5500. its been out for quite awhile now, is logitech going to release something new soon?

It looks like it. Doesn't look very likely though, because when Logitech was asked if they were replacing them, they basically said that there's no reason to replace them. They had nothing to improve.
