I hope they come out with a replacement since Klipsch makes some great speakers.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I didn't miss it. Whether on the used market, clearance stock, EBay, computer expos, or at local computer and/or music stores, they're worth a mention since they're generally regarded as the best 5.1 PC speaker set out there, for those that can still find them...

EDIT: I haven't listened to Klipsch's all digital GMX 5.1 speaker set, but those can be snagged online.

Hell yeah, they are really great. Just like the 2.1s, but more power and 5.1. Still lacks decoders and inputs like the Z-5500, but you can surpass that if you don't care (I do, so I'm gonna buy me some Z-5500s).

BTW, the ones I have now are my bro's...

- Core 2 Quad Q6600
- DFI Infinity 975X
- 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800
- 500GB WD 7200.10 Caviar GP + 250GB Seagate 7200.9RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM
- ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB
- Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W
- Acer 19" P191W Monitor
- Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution
- Vista Ultimate x64

And if memory serves me correctly, they lack a wireless remote (been awhile, so I'm fuzzy). For my personal system, the Creative sound card rendered the decoder moot, which is a good point nonetheless, but it seems like the remote played a factor in my keeping the Logitechs over the Klipsch (for listening to music in bed).

Remote helps! Problem for us though was that my bro's crappy TV used the same frequency as the Logitech remote... it would control both things.

But yeah, decoders can come from cards too, so it's OK I guess. You just don't have decoders when you're watching a movie or something.

Normally I agree and was never a big fan of Bose until this set of speakers. how this happened was I needed a good set of 2.0 speakers for my system due to space constraints. I looked and saw only two companies giving solid sets,

Newegg.com - Creative GigaWorks T20 28 W 2.0 Speaker - Retail
Click the image to open in full size.

and

Newegg.com - Logitech Z-10 30 watts 2.0 Interactive Speaker System - Retail
Click the image to open in full size.

I had a chance at the local Office Depot and Best Buy to hear both. I took in my Accapella CD, the best way i have found to test speakers, I have a few songs I crank up and see if I can easily find all 4 parts of the harmony. This is a WICKED speaker test that has never let me down. Both speakers sounded pretty good and where prices pretty close. The Creative where cheaper at $100 vs the $150 of the Logitech but the Logitech sounded a little better.

As I was deciding the wife took me to Target and there where the Bose 2.0 system. They are not normally set to let people play their own music but the sales person hooked me up. I was blown away. the sound had a very full range and was actually cleaner than the Logitech while being the same price as the Creative.

Now in fairness to everyone $100 for a set of 2.0 speakers is nuts for 99% of the people out there. Especially with good speaker sets in the 4.1 and 5.1 areas being cheaper. However 2.0 was the perfect fit for me and I can seriously sya there is no better 2.0 speaker system I have head yet.

I would not dare to compre their sound to the 2.1 Klipsch set, those are amazing speakers, but I would compare them to most other 2.1 systems on the market for sound quality.

Ed, please post the model name (and maybe a product link) to the speakers you are referring to and not just a picture of the product. It is not easy to identify which product is what.

Hey I got a tip, don't buy Logitech z5300e. Left front channel in my amp died a month out of warranty. Logitech could not even help me out. Best they could do was sell me any set of speakers for half price, with a 30 day warranty.

So I am prepared to drop the dime on a set of Klipsch.

Yeah, I was gonna say that when I looked on NewEgg, users complained of amp failure/sub out in both the Z-5300e and the GigaWorks S750. I wouldn't be as surprised to the Zs, but a high-end system kicking the bucket?
