also another point of interest is that some PSUs/fans have the same 2/3-pin connectors as what is on a mobo incase their case fan goes out, it is easy to replace by the user if needed (which is typically when it is out of warranty anyways).

Thanks HL and Corsair!

Though with cheaper power supplies you'll often find the wires are soldered on the board, they're trying to bring the production cost to the minimum.
If you just knew how often we change perfectly working power supplies because the fan bearing is dying.

well now you have instructions how to change the fan out and continue using the same PSU for the cost of a $5 fan rather than a $100+ PSU

I am not trying to say shove your hand in to your PSU whilst its running I’m just saying that maybe we are sometimes to careful.
That's great news, as we'd hate to lose a forum member in this fashion. Just make sure you never recommend such a method, especially with our target reader-base (new and/or inexperienced users). Any guide or review that calls for opening up a power supply needs to come with a clear disclaimer regarding the risks involved (which you've done), and a lack of undermining said disclaimer in followup posts.

It is a simple fact that PSU's really can injure you....

The inner workings of computer power supplies produce potentially lethal voltages exceeding 340 Volts DC. These voltages may be present even after main power to the unit has been removed. Extreme caution should be exercised anytime the PSU case is opened. Adequate time following removal of power should be allowed for any component(s) retaining an electrical charge to discharge.

Call me a masochist, but I love that feeling when your fingers are tingly after being shocked.

So your modding your Xbox wtcnbrwndo4u? I'm about to paint my brother Xbox to silver, already made the jewel transparent, added a blue neon around it and threw a bigger hard drive in it (20GB I had lying there)
It's chipped with a DuoX and eVox is installed. How about yours? :P

Yeah, that tingly feeling bugs me... I've also got shocked by a lamp in India (220V... all right!).

As for the Xbox, it's already modded. Uh, SmartXX v3 solderless, X3 Control Panel, XBMC set as a dash, 200GB HD, a couple of games, bunch of movies, etc.

My brother's planning on de-modding it (it's his BTW) because he's gonna use that 200GB HD as the main HD in his rig. I need to find that 8GB HD.
