EVGA Akimbo cooler (for the 8800gt) (lots of pics)

I got this instead of the Akimbo. Pretty good price, hopefully it will stop the overheating with my 8800gt.

Yea I saw this yesterday, I was thinking about stepping up to the 1GB version because it came with the akimbo and it's 1GB (over my 512MB with single slot cruddy cooler).
It would only be about $60 to step up, but then I thought, "I should step-up to a 9800GTX if anything!!" so thats what I'm going to do.
Once the GTX is out of course... Can't wait!!!!

He meant 1gb per core, right now the 9800GX2 is only 2x 512mb, which btw i'll do a quick user review as soon as EVGA ships it to me =P

Hey peeps, I know you are talking about the evga 8800gt, I have 2x bfg 8800gts 512mb OC dual slots. Would the akimbo cooler be compatible with these, and would it help in cooling them better. I have rivatuner and have cranked the fan's up to 60% and they idle at 48d and load @ 58-65d, also will the bios be compatible as well. I have a Evga 790i ultra which I stepped up from a 780i. I have used the latest drivers for the evga 8800 series which in not even list on the nvidia website and they work well with my bfg 8800's which doesn't have a step up plan, oh wait it does, but you can only trade up a 9000 series for another 9000 series 9600-9800, wasn't up on EVGA until return policy for refund was past.

First off, Welcome to HL!!

Yes the akimbo will fit your BFG cards, and it won't effect the BIOS at all.
But I would suggest getting an aftermarket cooler such as the Thermaltake DuOrb or the Zalman VF1000.
Those are about the same price as the akimbo and will cool the card better.
