| Colonel Calamity  | Re: Howdy wow, I at least grew up on a paved road... but the town didn't even have a police department or sherriff.... the nearest cop was Sturgis, SD and that was still 35-45 minutes away.. the fire dept was 100% volunteer and they only had 2 trucks... it wasn't until my 2nd grade that my town even got a school of any kind, we had to be shipped to Rapid City or Sturgis. Even now there is only the elementary school, no middle/high school. the local movie rental place was in a trailer (mobile home), the post office had one part time employee (usually 8AM-noon) then she had to go out and deliver mail until 5-6PM.. I think it wasn't until I got out of high school that the town finally got over 600 population and that was only because they expanded the city limits to include a neighborhood of about 200 houses... anyways we are all the melting pot of HL, welcome!
