Indeed. I checked out Lowe Airport, I'm nowhere near there. I'm just really close to probably one of the 250 spots that Fort Rucker has right to land on.

My grandfather used to work on Huey's and other helis a long time ago at Rucker and Lowe. Any job the regular mechanics couldn't fix they would pass it on to him. Ever heard of him?

BTW, we have company from Illinois. He's a flight instructer and we are thinking of heading to the Aviation Musuem at Fort Rucker this weekend.

Thats funny, most people don't even know that modern day forums evloved from BBS's. I used to live on BBS's back in the early 90's.

I was stationed at Ft Carson from 99-04 (with a tour to Bosnia, Korea and Iraq in there too), I have been here in Germany since 04. Carson is nice, my Wife really wants to go back there, I am not so sure I do.

@ Panda - If you haven't gone to the museum yet, it's an awesome little place to go! I take all of my family there when they come in town.

@Hitman - You couldn't bribe me to go back to Carson. I LOVED the riding out there, both motorcycles and horses, but the people simply suck for the most part. Most inconsiderate drivers, ill-mannered and ill-tempered lot of folks I've ever been around. The school situation was reaching critical mass with staffing vs # of kids when we left. Can't imagine what it's like now. While the weather can be awesome, they just got the blizzard hammer yesterday. Like 5" of snow and it's supposed to be 60 degrees today. I still have a lot of buddies at Carson. I was in the 571st MedEvac and deployed to OIF2 with them.

Before I went to Korea I lived in Widefield, when I got back I moved out to Pueblo. I liked it better down there, the drive sucked everyday, but it's a little better place to live.

I was in the 3rd ACR and went to OIF 1, and went to Germany not long after I got back from Iraq. They offered me Germany and I jumped at the offer since 3rd ACR came down for OIF 3 just before that. I have been lucky since I have been here, looks like I will do my tour deployment free (knocking on wood).

Dang brother, I might know you then. We were called OIF2 even though we deployed like 3 weeks after the ground situation started. We got there before the ACR did by about 3 weeks. We were starting to fly off the pads in Kuwait when the first ships with the 3rd ACR's stuff started getting there. We went to 4th ID land up in Tikrit and then hooked up with the ACR at Al-Asad in July. If your a tanker or infantry guy, I probably don't know you as I'm aviation. I'll throw some names out there though. CSM Loomis(glad he got replaced), Lt Col Douthit, 1SG Sattelle(good buddy of mine), MSG Cameron, and there's quite a few others.
