I've seen some really beautiful wood cases. With good ventilation, heat isn't an issue. Definitely need some cabinetry skills though.

Always tape your plexi by the way, so you don't end up cracking it. Some plexi is very brittle.

I can't believe Blake hasn't chimed in on this.:alberteinstein: All I can say is good luck with the project. The only thing I would recomend, is to mock up a lay out with cardboard first. Be sure you are sure it's what you want, and then go from there. Bailey.

The 90 degree bend aluminum things are called "angle aluminum bar" to the best of my knowledge. And good luck!

And to polobunny: Thanks for the tip about the plexi; I didn't know that, you could have possibly have saved me some money.

How about a "concept" case ... there are contests out there and winners and prizes and "hall of famers" etc.

How about a case designed with ultra-quiet maximum filtered airflow?

So, to save some money and to have some fun, I'm planning to make a case. I wanted to ask what type of materials should I stick with. I assume aluminum and plexiglass are great ways. And I'd assume wood is a bad idea.

Also, can you get colored plexiglass? And anyone have any ideas?
I'm sorry, this is a little off topic, but what's this about a q6600, a mobo, and vista for $220? I'm planning a rig with a q6600, thats why i ask.

Intel Retail Edge. If you're an employee at a store that sells Intel products (whether it be CPUs/mobo or systems), you're eligible for their training program, which offers a promotion where you can get either a Q6600, G33 mobo, and Vista Home Premium for $219 or a Q6700, G33 mobo, and Vista Home Premium for $249.

Yeah, insane discount.

Microsoft and Sony have similar training programs. Microsoft offers discounts on games, 360 + accessories, Zune + accessories, etc. Sony offers 40% minimum off the MSRP of all their TVs, digital imaging, and audio products.

It's nice being able to get Halo 2 for Vista or Gears of War for $9.

Yeah, I'm waiting until next month for Gears of War. It's coming to the PC in November, so I'm sure they'll have it up there.

I'll buy Halo 2 very soon. :)
