As it turns out, no-notice deployments to the middle east tend to put a giant kink in even the best laid modding plans. So hopefully this explains my 3 month absence (no I didn't just walk out on you guys!)

On another note...'Project Sonata' should now be changed to 'Project Sayonara' since I've had to scrap it. Why? Two reasons: 1.) It really wasn't fitting the vision I had for it and there are MUCH better platforms out there to start off with that include a few less headaches (i.e. cases without the plastic front panel and awkward drive cage method). 2.) My wife and I recently found out we've got our first child on the way and guess where the finances get trimmed? Most of you have been there, and you know exactly what I mean. So I'm going to be on a more limited budget for my next endeavor and we'll see what I can dig up for one of my plans that actually follows through. Sorry to disappoint anyone, I had high hopes for the ol' Sonata as well. Some things just aren't meant to be and the baby falls just *slightly* higher on my priority list lol.

So until my next project, I'll be living (and learning, as always) vicariously through the rest of you.

Very sorry to hear the deployment to the crap hole of the world Sumgai!!!! Glad you made it back, and are ok
A big congrats on the new upcoming baby!!!! And man you got it right about the importance of things now
Glad you made your way back to HL, and hope you get to stick around a little more.
Hell, you never can tell, maybe a better mod project will come along in the near future!

Welcome back mate

Middle East isn't exactly a crap hole, depends on where you go. I lived in Abu Dhabi, UAE for 6 years, it was awesome. Right on the beach, we're American so it was tax-free for us, had a HUGE apartment, bigger than most houses in the US. It's definitely in my top 5 places to live.

congrats on the baby...

My advice as we have kid #2 due anyday now:

DO NOT BUY EVERYTHING YOU THINK YOU MAY NEED

by the time you get to kid #2 you realize that you never use the diaper genie except once or twice, you realize that bottle warmer sat unused 98% of the time, you realize that the $600 crib with $500 sheets is gone before the kid is out of diapers...
Get a "conversion" crib, one that also changes into a day bed and eventually a twin or fullsize bed. They may be a bit more money but are well worth it in the long run.

take care

Babies?! Damn boy!
Congratulations though, and glad to hear you're in good health after a deployment to the big sandbox.

Sorry to hear this project is dead though. I think an angel loses its wings everytime a modding project dies...
Anyway, good luck with the kid and I hope to see you around (more) often!
