Yeah, I'm still battling with that. I'm about to just cut the whole darn thing out the size of the drives and slide them right through the front panel. Then Maybe I'll make a little "frame" out of the green acrylic to go around the whole thing, kindof like I did with the PSU mounting. What do you guys think about that idea?

If you'd just cough up the cash for a water-jet cutter, this wouldn't be a problem ^^ lol. That's the only thing I can think of that cuts accurately enough to make precise lines in acrylic. Either that or if you're a god with a jigsaw and really really like filing. And btw...bummer about the 'black' acrylic, I didn't think about the transparency of it... >.<

That's exactly my problem right there. When I designed this whole crazy project I somehow got it in my head I that my hands could move like a CNC machine!
Now I'm frantically trying to redesign everything so I don't have to be precise or I can cover up the mistakes

...but yeah... I am just filing these parts waaayyyyy too much, but that's they only way I've figured out how to get it right!

Yeah, I don't really want to try and deal with flame polishing as high grit sanding will get me the results I'm looking for.

Oh ok, I didn't know if you knew about that or not, so thought I would throw it out there just in case

Yeah, thanks for the info. I definitely don't claim to know everything, so any and all ideas are always welcome!

Well, here's a quick mid-day modding break update for y'all! :wavey:

I finally just got sick and tired of fighting with the stealthed drive bay idea and went with something a little more straight forward...

And as you can see, thing just weren't quite lining up they way there were supposed to...

That is finally done and over with and I don't have to think about it anymore!
But I'm still not completely satisfied with the look of it, so I'm gonna make another flourescent green frame type thing to go around the drives. The same thing will be done to the 3.5" drive bay devices to be located right next to the 5.25" drives...

You can kind of see the design I'm going for outlined in pencil. I managed to get this far before my hands were numb and I had to take a break and go inside (the workshop is outside and it's about 15 degrees F). I'm heading back now to finish up the drive mounting on the front panel and will have another update this evening! :ciao:
