have you looked at other meshes for intakes?
personally i would go with a larger one, and then insert some thin filter-foam, like the thermaltake cases.
should help with dust, and would look nasty

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but I didn't know right off hand where to find some really thin filter material. I figure this will work good enough; and if it doesn't, then I'll just figure something else out!

Well I hope this hasn't been asked already because I had to scan through this 23 page post in a short time. I mostly got a chance to read Blake's posts thoroughly.

Anyway, I was wondering where the lower level intake is. I saw on your first page of the post that the PSU and an exhaust fan are there but your only intake is on the 'second level' of the case. I didn't see an intake on the lower level where your hdd's are.

There is no lower level intake, only a lower level exhaust, which should be enough. I'm cooling my hard drives with a sunon 80mm fan at ~15 cfm fan and it's fine.

I don't necessarily mean an intake fan, just an intake of somekind (even mesh or grille). If it is fairly airtight and all you have is a psu exhaust and an exhaust fan then they don't even really serve a purpose. To get air flow going through there, there has to be some kind of intake.

There is an intake fan in the front. A 120mm.

I see that. It is just that by the looks of it, the 2 levels do not appear to have any opening where the air from the intake fan on the top level will be able to make its way to the lower level.

That's a legitimate concern, and a good question PrOLifIC

The motherboard tray stops at the edge of the mATX motherboard, so there will be about 4 inches of open space from the edge of the motherboard tray and the front panel of the case where air can either be sucked down into the lower level or stay up top. There are two 80mm exhaust fans, but the single 120mm front intake fan should pull in as much air as the two 80mm fans are pushing out so it should all equal out. And as Tyreal mentioned, I'm not as concerned about airflow around the HDD's and PSU, but more on airflow over the motherboard. The air being pulled down by the PSU's 120mm fan and the 80mm exhaust fan should be enough to keep air moving down in the bottom (or so I hope).

I understand that the video card and processor create the most heat (and require the most cooling) but I just wanted to make sure there was some kind of air movement on the lower level for the hdd's. I figured you had it covered but I didn't see you mention it in the previous posts, so I thought I would make sure it wasn't something that was overlooked.

Looks like a fun project. I don't know that I would have the patience that you have. Eventually I would just throw the last of it together and be done with it LOL...

BUT the entire HL World is watching you, so you are not allowed to do that !

HAHA, you aren't far from the truth there!
I've had to redesign and remake a majority of the pieces and parts of this case and it has been a total pain in the @$$. But like you say, the show must go on. I've put too much time and money into this damn project to just abandon it now:bike: :dontknow:
