| Modder-ator | WOO HOO! Some real updates for ya'all! \:D/ First task was to get settled into my work area: ![]() Prettymuch a modder's paradise!! And you always make sure you have the right tool for the job. In this case, I was using the router tool bit for the Dremel I got for my birthday... ![]() After some practicing on a scrap piece of plexi, I figured out how to effectively use the router bit for the dremel and managed to get all the pieces cut out: ![]() Pretty rough eh? Well, with the help of my bastards: ![]() and the clamps: ![]() I was ready to go! Finally, after much filing and sanding, we have the finished product!!! ![]() The two identical pieces hold the optical drives together: ![]() ![]() While the other longer piece holds the HDD's upright: ![]() ![]() |

| Here's how to get straight accurate cuts with a router. Measure from the edge of the cutter to the outside of the router base, now clamp straight pieces to the project that make a square, setting the straight pieces so they are the size that you want the cutout plus add the distance from the tool edge to base. This will give you straight edges and a accurate cutout that doesn't need sanding or filing. To really make the edges nice do a rough cut first and leave a small amount of material for a finish cut. |

| It actually looks pretty good. If you were new to the modding scene you probably would not even notice that. Even less so if you were just a passer-by or a visiter to the house. I like the looks of it. ![]() D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, MCR220 |

| Modder-ator | Yeah, thanks for the tips joker. This was my first time ever trying to cut like this and my first time ever using the router, so I still have a lot to learn. I'll definatey try that next time though :thumleft: Just a disclaimer to my slightly less than perfect cuts, these pieces will be installed inside the case behind very dark gray side panels, so it won't be nearly as obvious. :P |

| Modder-ator | Well, managed to get a little more work done today; this time on the motherboard tray. Here we see it drilled and ready to be tapped: ![]() Being tapped for the standoffs: ![]() It was slow going and I had to back it out half way through each hole so it wouldn't bind up. but finally, I got them all tapped, and it fits!: ![]() Next up was to make a spot for the expansion cards to poke down into: ![]() ![]() Thank you Mr. Coping Saw :) Of course, the cuts still need to be finished up... But that's all for today, until next time :dremel: |
