Just a small update while I get this rig ready for paint. Of course I have to get all the mounting holes in place first. The door is prepped while the epoxy was setting up on the top.

After the epoxy was set up, the simple task of sanding it down was done. And ready for a thin coat of filler.

The glue for the base and LCD bezel is on order. The cap wasn't on tight enough and evaporated, my only complaint on this water thin acrylic glue.

Till next update,
Peace

Wait, what color are you painting this thing again? Please forgive me if you said it somewhere earlier in the thread, it's been a while since I read through the whole thing...

I'm glad I tested this out with the fan in, I will put mesh over the fan...looks weird with out anything over it. The original grill was hex mesh. :yuck:

Sanded out the LCD bezel, jeeze what a pain doing this by hand. Had to make a custom sanding block for the corners.

Just a little more progress before paint...

With the pre assembly of the top I realized that the top fan defiantly needed a grill to follow the theme. The blades alone just didn't cut it.....soooo

I found out a great use for the dremel diamond cutting wheel. It works great with thin aluminium, cuts fast and clean. I also used some cardboard to protect the work bench.

And there you have it, the last fabricated piece for "Jaded"

Now we go paint!!! Then Twizted does his lighting magic!

Oh man, I cannot WAIT to see the paint job on this bad boy!

EDIT:
Are you using a diamond cutting wheel bit instead of the more popular reinforced cutoff wheels?

I had one for years, and the re-inforced wheels kept catching and bending some of the mesh. I had the diamond bit in the tray and tried it out....and it worked allot better.

I'll bet that is correct!!! I would imagine that it would cut better and not snag the expanded aluminum near as much as the standard cut off wheels........Great point Lokie

And since it's cutting area is less, the heat genrated is less.

For those unknowng kids that are reading this, Heat causes the metal to expand into the cutting blade...hence causing the binding.
