HAHA, that's great!

Apparently my first name wins over my last (which are both actually last names).

OK, my son is one huge pain in the a$$....I know not an excuse but if I had hair it would have been pulled out this past month.

So what have I been up to, well the base is now going to be a 5 layers of acrylic (smoke, clear, smoke, clear, smoke). I had to do something to accent the bright light in the base but to phase it out a bit.

Also finished the cut out of the second piller....another painWhich will have frosted inlays with a dual dragon meter gong up.

The lower half of the window will have our diamond mesh to add to the all angle effect of the antec 900 case.

I cut the first blade to use as a template for the front and photoshop the rest to decide the length of the others.

the logo/drive rail cover is cut and test fitted.

HEHE, we have sold this product for years and I till this mod have never used it. What am i talkin about? Our DragonMesh, don't get me wrong this is not a sales pitch......

OK, there is a gatewatch 2 that will be located in the lower section for the tower. I dumped the gay magnifying glass thing and Twizted changed the LEDs from blue to Green to fit the theme....not to bad.

Now the stock front has a oval mesh over the bays. This doesn't fit with the theme of course so what to do about it? *shameless plug for DragonModz DragonMesh here* Enter the wonderful use of DM DragonMesh. Granted MNPCTechs modders mesh has a good purpose but it's steel. DM mesh is aluminum and to my surprise very easy to work with.

Here is the placement for the gatewatch...

Trimmed mesh ready for test fit. Thin flush cut snips worked great for the rough in. The yellow disk is 180 git sandpaper that is stuck to the bench. Final fitting is sanded down keeping a nice straight edge.

I started to use the flush cuts again on trimming to the cover but the material was distorting to much for my taste. SO I finished the rough in with a dremel, using a cutoff wheel and sanding drum.

The use of mini clamps worked really well to help hold the mesh while forming to the cover.

After bending the mesh into the slots on the sides, the flush cuts make quick use of the excess and all done with the forming.

Wow, that looks killer! Very nicely done with that mesh stuff, the edges are so clean! I've been working a bit with some staggered round hole mesh and it is a pain in the ass; the edges are never as nice as that, what's your secret?

ALUMINUM MY GOOD MAN!!!

I assume you are using steel expanded metal, and Lokie's Dragon mesh is aluminum, which is mucccccccch easier to form

aaahhh, yes, I suppose that would make a big difference. The steel mesh I'm using is stubborn stuff!

Over do for an update I know, so here we go.

The DVD drive mesh needs to match up with the gatewatch or it will look like crap...duh! *Please note* If any one tries this idea, remember to have enough mesh to line up the pattern. The dimaond mesh looks uniform from a distance but up close one can see there is a differance. Once the pattern was matched up to the gatewatch mesh I was ready to trim down to the drive. I left enough mesh for the cut out of the drive and for the door.

Since I am doing this by hand I had to cut them in seprate sections.

Nice tight fit, once glued in place one will not have to worry about any shifting.

Sincel the mesh cover'd the eject button I had to fabricate a new to fit in the diamond mesh.

The begining of the top blades....

Thats it for now, thanks for reading this on the HL forums!
