I use this as it stresses in the actual windows environment instead of a DOS based one.
Not as good, I can guarantee that from testing both (and some other under DOS)
Also, memtest86+ is not a end all argument. Sometimes memory will have a failure/incompatibility but memtest86+ won't show it.

Well, I used Memtest86. Burned it to a disc and booted from it, ran it and passed it in 50 minutes without any errors.

Thanks for all the extra info Stormy and Polo, good info to know!
BTW, is there a different between Memtest86 and Memtest86+?

Well, I turned off IDE mode in the BIOS which helped and I made sure that there were no RAID settings turned on, only SATA is on.
I got XP all working today and did some stress testing in everest.
I stressed all four cores at max and both everest and core temp read the temps as 77 - 80c, I don't think thats right at all.... cuz the cpu heatsink didn't feel really hot.

I also cleaned up the stock thermal compound on the GPU, NB and SB and put ICD7 on them.
BTW, I also put more ICD7 on the CPU.

And, I just found out that my motherboard came with a free 3DMark06 License! I just installed it and will be running it shortly.

After that I want to get OC'ing a little bit. So I will need help with that cuz I have never OC'ed anything before.... I just know not to put more than 2.0v on a CPU..... haha, jk...

After that, I want to try and get Vista working because I've gotten used to using the BIOS on this board and think I know what was wrong in Vista.

The homepage of memtest86+ explains it much better than I could
Quote:
Based on the well-known original memtest86 written by Chris Brady, memtest86+ is a port by some members of the x86-secret team, now working at Canardplus.com, le quotidien du jeu vidéo et du hardware. Our goal is to provide an up-to-date and completly reliable version of this software tool aimed at memory failures detection.

Thanks for that Polo!

Hey dudes... so I just ran 3DMark06 with all default settings and I got a score of 5721, now.... I know thats not right, 8800GT's are supposed to get 9-10k+ in 3Dmark, and I've even got a quad core here!!

Help please

BTW, I'm writing this from my new compy!! w00000ttt!!! It's super fast!

Edit:
Also, I don't have any antivirus software installed yet, because I haven't decided which one to do.
I've heard AVG or Avest is good, my dad uses Bit Defender and I've used The Shield before, but Which is really the best and runs quietly in the background without slowing down the comp.
Thanks!

Hell, I even got a 5960 with my X1900XT and Quad. I actually think my score's pretty low though. Either it's low or my Dell's score was low (I looked at my online results)... it was a 4694... it seems too low. I really doubt my Quad upped my score by 1300...

EDIT: You mentioned your mobo came with a license... you sure you're running at basic settings?
