That gives me $420 to spend on a video card and mobo. The DFI costs me $140, and the 8800GT would cost eh... about $250. So then if I do that, I'll get the parts I wanted, and $30 extra.... I think thats what I'll do. ![]() Anybody interested in a striker mobo?? ![]()

| Bowser pwner. | Yip, I don't think it makes sense to use a really expensive motherboard with just a 2900.... If I had to buy a mobo and vid card, I would have bought a cheap mobo and an expensive video card. ![]() Thats exactly what I'm going to do. ![]() |

| oh noes | Yeah, especially since most motherboards perform pretty much equally with the same parts plugged in... and, well... intel chipsets are awesome, lol. I'd be tempted to go with that dfi board over the striker just for that reason, unless you really want sli. Although I admit, that striker mobo is very sexy. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |

| Hey Parker, one more thing... the DFI DK P35 only has a 4-phase PWM circuit, and that could hurt your quad-core, especially when OCing. I recommend to bump it up to THIS mobo, with a 8-phase digital PWM circuit. Although sadly it doesn't go with your color scheme. Oooor......... I could get THIS baby. BTW, I don't know much about the PWM circuit stuff... whats the difference between 4-phase and 8-phase? | |

8-phase is more efficient and delivers cleaner power to the CPU... so the voltage doesn't fluctuate as much, and thus it's healthier for the CPU and your OC is more stable AFAIK. I think the gigabyte X38 board hes 12-phase PWM's... E8400 DFI Blood Iron P35-T2RL 4GB G.Skill 800MHz Sapphire Radeon HD3870 512MB Silverstone DA650W WD 250GB + Seagate 320GB

How can you tell if it's got 4-phase or 8-phase or 12-phase?? ![]() Would THIS mobo be ok? The reason I ask is because it doesn't have the heatpiping. Edit: Yep, found out it's got 8-Phase PWM. Last edited by Parker; March 2nd, 2008 at 14:54.

| oh noes | Well, it says it has 8 phase pwm, so it should be pretty good in that area. ![]() e8500@4ghz|Asus P5k-e WiFi| 4gb OCZ ReaperX|2x 3870's|1.3tb storage space|MSI tv tuner. |
